Matalili or Tia lili =( Wall hanging craft)
This is an authentic cultural craft that is unique to the Niue culture.
Tia lili is made out of natural fibers of pandanus leaves and coconut mid rib stalks.
These Matalili are weaved by my fuluola (beautiful) tupuna fifine (Nana) using coconut mid rib stalks , Ribbon or Raffia to add colour and patterns.
Wow Enson, these are so beautiful! How special that they were made by your Nana... have you ever tried to make one? They look like they would be hard to make. Thanks for sharing, these are really cool.

This Tialili (Tialili pronounced Sialili)is beautiful and reminds me of my nena who also weaved many Tialili. Have you ever tried learning the skill? I hope you get to learn and maybe make your own.
